BURRILLVILLE – Two popular Smithfield businesses will soon open satellite locations inside the convenience store at Village Gas in Burrillville.
Equipment and countertops are already in place at 172 Chapel St. for Brewology and Fresh Pita, with new options – for coffee and mediterranean food, respectively – soon on the way.
Village Gas owner Zeshan Abid purchased the station and accompanying buildings last October from former owner Robert Depalo for $2.3 million. The lot includes an auto repair shop previously known as Eagle Motors, along with a second building that once held Village Martial Arts and North Country Store.
In the months since, the repair shop has reopened under new ownership as Village Motors, the karate studio has moved to a new space in Chepachet, and the convenience store has more than doubled in size, with dividing walls removed to create a modern, spacious-looking shop.
The Sunoco station at the front of the lot marks the fifth location for Abid’s Village Gas, with additional stations in Smithfield, Scituate and Foster.
And Abid has collaborated with the owners of two more locally-owned businesses to open inside his Burrillville space.
First opened at Apply Valley Plaza in Smithfield in 2022, Brewology serves up coffee and espresso drinks, along with smoothies, shakes and breakfast items. The original cafe has extended hours Thursday through Saturday, offering libations and entertainment at night.
The owners of the coffee shop worked with Abid to open their second location at his Sunoco station on Pleasant View Avenue in Smithfield last year. That cafe features a drive-through and a slightly more limited menu – similar to what visitors can likely expect once they open in the small space in Burrillville.
Yelda and Isa Nuay first opened Fresh Pita on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence in 2018. The couple sold the first location in 2023, opening up shop at at 777 Putnam Pike in Smithfield, and have won over fans with their homemade falafel, kabobs, salads, burgers and more.
While neither business has announced an opening date, Brewology is already hiring for the new location, and signs, display cases and more sit inside, waiting to provide new dining options for Burrillville customers.
The country is for sale for pennies on the dollar…We’re Global now….goodbye America.
Love this both restaurants offer good food. Particularly excited about Brewology. It will be nice to have another option to Dunkin for good coffee!
