GLOCESTER – Students at Ponaganset High School had a nearly two hour lockdown Friday morning after administrators received information that Glocester police say was later determined to be unfounded.

According to Glocester police, the school went on lockdown at 8 a.m. after school officials notified the department, with surrounding law enforcement agencies also responding.

The department assured parents that there was no active threat or injuries to students on social media during the investigation that followed.

“The incident was investigated and deemed to be unfounded,” GPD noted.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., the lockdown was lifted and school resumed normal activity with the support of officers remaining on scene.

“Thank you all for your patience during this time,” police noted.
