BURRILLVILLE – This past car show season was very busy after more than a two year absence, with automotive enthusiasts flocking to area cruise nights to enjoy the classic cars and trucks on display across Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

One of my favorite weekly car shows happened every Saturday afternoon and evening in the town of Pomfret, Conn. The 2022 car show season began at this location last April and ended recently. Tri-State Cruisers classic car club has been raising funds for the Hole In The Wall Gang Camp for nearly 30 years to help support very sick children. The camp is a summer escape for little kids, allowing them to enjoy outdoor activities and just be kids, even if it’s just for a little while. They can forget about their sickness and have fun all summer season.

This was the best annual car show season ever for Tri-State Cruisers. A $25,000 check was given to the camp directors to support kids attending their campground in the summer of 2023. Dick Salvas is the president of the Tri-State Cruisers, leading club members and many volunteers who are very dedicated to this charitable cause every year. The Buckleupallofus giant balloon has long been a show attraction, and a variety of take-home child safety coloring posters, coloring books, stickers and fridge magnets were available on-site throughout the car show season for all of the kids and parents.

Bucky and I were also proud trophy sponsors on Saturday, Sept. 3, along with NAPA Auto Parts stores. This car club’s members and volunteers should be commended for their hard work and dedication every single Saturday during the car show season helping to raise money for the Hole In The Wall Gang Camp. The camp is open yearlong for gatherings, parties and functions. Donations of any size are always welcome and appreciated anytime of the year.

I hope to see everyone again next car show season. Until then, stay safe, and always remember to buckle up your kids safely in backseats.

Enjoy coloring this week’s Bucky Cruisin’ child passenger safety coloring cartoon with your children.
