Pizza & popcorn, E-waste collection: Six things to know in Burrillville this week

Music Boosters

Visit Five Guys Burgers & Fries at 622 George Washington Highway in Lincoln on Tuesday, May 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. for a fundraiser to support the Burrillville High School Music Boosters. The organization will receive up to 15 percent of all sales on both dine in and take out orders.

Open Garden

Jenza’s Garden at 470 South Main St. in Pascoag will hold its first, “open garden,” of the season on Tuesday, May 21 and Thursday, May 23 from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to volunteer at the garden or just visit and learn. Volunteers will leave with plants including mugwort, comfrey and neetles, with discussions on how to make oils, wreaths and teas.

The events will continue the following week on Tuesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 30.

E-Waste collection

The town of Burrillville will hold an e-waste recycling collection event on Saturday, May 25, rain or shine at the Public Works building at 200 Clear River Drive. No appointment is needed and many items are accepted for free at the drive through event, with others accepted for a $10 fee. View more details and a full list here.

Pizza & popcorn

The Sticks Pizza + Not Your Average Popcorn are teaming on Saturday, May 25 for a day of fun and food at the Burrillville Skate Park on Chapel Street. Guests are invited to stay and enjoy their food or grab and go, and to bring their skateboards, bikes and scooters to the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Memorial Day

The Burrillville Allied Veterans Council American Legion Posts 17 and 88 and VFW Post 1023 will hold a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 27 starting at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park on East Avenue in Harrisville. The event will include a performance by the Burrillville High School band and select chorus. All are invited to attend and honor those who died in service at the ceremony, to be held rain or shine.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday, May 22 starting at 7 p.m. at the town building at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.
