It was a beautiful day on Saturday, bringing out locals to the Burrillville Family Fair. Visit NRI NOW this week for more pictures from the event.

Open mic & yoga

First Universalist Church at 134 Harrisville Main St. is offering yoga in the church on Monday, June 17 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., a gentle flow class appropriate for beginners or those who have more experience. Pre-registration is required by sending a message on social media or emailing [email protected] and space is limited. Participants will need to bring their own mat for the free class and arrive 10-15 minutes early. Donations for the church are welcome.

On Tuesday, June 18, open mic night continues at the church from 7 – 9 p.m. The event serves as an opportunity to spotlight local talent and connect the church within the local community. Musicians and poets are invited share songs and/or poems in front of an audience. All are welcome to share their talents or just enjoy the evening’s entertainment.

Those who wish to perform are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the event to sign up. Open mic participants will have ten minutes or two songs, five minutes or two poems. If the the list is completed early, participants will be invited to a lightning round and go around again. The event is free and donations are welcome to support the preservation efforts of this historic church.

The open mic will continue as a monthly event on the third Tuesday of each month. For more information contact Jan Luby at [email protected].
