Burrillville woman charged after allegedly stealing running vehicle from job site, crashing in N.S.

BURRILLVILLE – Burrillville police have issued an arrest warrant for a woman accused of stealing a running vehicle from a job site and crashing it in the neighboring town.

Jennifer Bernard, 51, of Burrillville will be charged with larceny of more than $10,000 according to police.

The incident took place on Tuesday, June 11 around 8 p.m. when a construction foreman at 265 Lapham Farm Road told police that he stopped by his job site to check on the building and left his vehicle running while he stood nearby. A pedestrian, who was walking by, reportedly climbed into the driver seat and drove off.

The vehicle crashed a short time later in North Smithfield, according to police.

Bernard was transported to the hospital for treatment to her injuries. An arrest warrant has been issued and she is expected in court
when she is sufficiently able to stand before a judge, according to a release on the charges.
