Bedtime stories

Burrillville Public Schools will launch summer bedtime stories beginning on Monday, July 8, to continue through Monday, August 11. Follow a link every Monday night to hear a live children’s story being read starting at 7 p.m. The Google Meet link will always be the same at https://meet.google.com/ees-wtqv-mfy

This program is intended for students in pre-K through grade 2, but all are welcome to join in.

Summer meals

The Burrillville Summer Lunch program also begins on Monday, July 8, offering free meals in July and August to kids under age 17 at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion on Tinkham Lane. Meals will be offered in weekdays from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and must be consumed on site. A menu can be found on the Facebook page for Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library.

Heat wave

Speaking of the library, the building at 100 Tinkham Lane will be open this week for anyone who needs to cool down during regular hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Water Park Wednesdays

We have one more thing to mention this week at Jesse Smith, with Water Park Wednesdays to begin on the Riverwalk behind the building this week from 10 a.m. to noon. Kids and their families are invited to visit two splash pads, play with squirt toys, run through the sprinkler and more. The drop in style program will be held, weather permitting on July 10, 17, 24 and 31, and is best for children grade 5 and under.

Signature gathering

The Burrillville Democratic Town Committee will hold a signature gathering event to get local, state and federal candidates on the November 2024 ballot on Thursday, July 11 in front of Fountain Square Park in Pascoag from 5 to 7 p.m. Fountain Square Park is located next to Bravo Brewing Company and George’s Pizza.

Any registered voter in the town of Burrillville is welcome to attend and sign. Registered voters will be asked to sign nomination forms for candidates. In order to be on the ballot in November, all candidates for federal, state and local public office need to obtain a specified number of valid signatures on their nomination papers.

For more information contact Fred Hunt, chairman of the Burrillville Democratic Town Committee at (401) 935-2967 or by email at [email protected].

Concert

The next free concert in the Riverwalk Times Concert series will be the Live Music Band on Saturday, July 13 at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion on Tinkham Lane. The hometown favorite band plays music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s with high energy performances. The concert runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and Dinolicious will be on site.
