
Hydrant flushing
The Clear River Water & Electric District will conduct hydrant flushing this week from Monday, May 12 to Thursday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The district notes that flushing is an essential maintenance task to ensure the safety and quality of water by removing sediment. Flushing may cause temporary discoloration of water and customers are advised to run the cold tap until it clears.

Scholarship Dinner
The Burrillville Lions Club will hold their annual Scholarship Dinner at Serio’s Pizzarama at 405 Church St. on Monday, May 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. Pasta and meatball dinner will be available for dine in or take out at a cost of $10 for adults or $5 for children 10 and under. The event will feature raffles and split the pot, and will raise funds for graduating Burrillville and North Smithfield High School seniors.
Pizza & Popcorn
The Burrillville High School Boys Soccer team will hold a pizza and popcorn fundraiser on Thursday, May 15 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the plaza at 249 Hill Road in Harrisville. DJ Wisevlad will be on site, and Not Your Average Popcorn and The Sticks Pizza Co. will donate a percent of their sales back to the team.

Customer appreciation
Brigido’s Fresh Market at 54 Sayles Ave. will hold a customer appreciation day on Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with music, food and more. The store will offer free hamburgers, hot dogs, and refreshments along with special in-store promotions, and a raffle drawing.
The store, which changed ownership in 2023, noted in a release that it has much to celebrate including refreshed shops now offering a wider variety of products, including organic and natural foods, a bigger dairy and prepared foods selection, and a new island of meats and cheeses. The stores also offer a shopper rewards program, home delivery, and curbside pickup.
Spring Yard Sale
The First Universalist Church of Burrillville will hold a Spring Yard Sale on Saturday, May 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will support the preservation of the historic church. There will also be a historic walking tour starting at 1 p.m., led by Betty Mencucci, president of the Burrillville Historical & Preservation Society. This tour is free to attend, all those interested in the walking tour will meet at the entrance of the church at 12:45 p.m.
