
Road closure
There will be a temporary road closure at West Greenville Road in the area of John Street/Pine Ledge for a few hours today, Tuesday, May 13 while Rhode Island Energy repairs a utility pole damaged in an accident. Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route and use caution in the area.
Blood drive
The Glocester Police Department will hold a blood drive at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike on Thursday, May 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. Sign up to donate at ribc.org/drives using sponsor code 5089.
Anniversary
Trish Hampton pet store at 1182 Putnam Pike will celebrate the business’s 10th anniversary in Chepachet village this weekend, with hours on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the store to mark the occasion with giveaways, sips and sweets.
Hike
Trail ambassadors from the Blackstone Heritage Corridor will lead a hike at Hawkins Pond on Sunday, May 18 as part of a spring series designed for all levels of hikers. The scenic hikes are designed to explore historic sites, namely native lands, and farms and homesteads dating back to the 18th century.
The easy mile and half mile hike will feature the pond, which was created by an earthen dam along Mary Brown Brook. The dam features a waterfall and hikers will follow marked trails during the two hour walk, led by Ernie Germani starting at 9 a.m.

Participants wanted
The Glocester Recreation Department is seeking veterans and others to participate for a Memorial Day Parade to be held Monday, May 26. The parade will step-off at 10:30 a.m. from Chepachet Free Will Baptist Church at 1213 Putnam Pike and a memorial service will follow at Acotes Cemetery.
“Your presence is deeply meaningful to our community,” noted the department. “Let’s come together to honor those who served — and those we’ve lost.”
