Paddle the Nipmuc

The Blackstone Valley Paddle Club will be paddling the Nipmuc River on Tuesday, June 17 and new members are welcome to join them as they celebrate their 25th year. Those with a kayak or canoe can join with more information found here.

The paddle also goes to Mill Pond where the waterfall is by the Assembly Theatre. Participants will meet at the boat launch off Route 98/Sherman Farm Road at around 5:45 p.m. for a 6:15 p.m. start. The rain date for the events is Wednesday, June 18.

Juneteenth

Burrillville town offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19 in honor of the Juneteenth holiday. There will also be no trash or recycling pickup on June 19, with pickup delayed one day for the remainder of the week.

Craft Shack Pop Up

Small Town Craft Shack at 44N Main St. will hold a permanent jewelry and charm bar pop up event on Thursday, June 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitors are invited to check out the business, located in the lower level of the R.I. Credit Union plaza.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Rhode Island Stage Ensemble and Assembly ACT will present The Hunchback of Notre Dame at the Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. during a spring musical collaboration over the next two weeks. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on June 20, 21, 27 and 28, as well as at 2 p.m. on June 22 and 28. Based on the 1996 Disney film and Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame tells the story of Quasimodo, the hunchbacked bellringer of Notre Dame, and his desire to be a part of the outside world.

Tickets cost $27 or $23 for students, seniors and military members in advance at www.ristage.org. Admission at the door the night of the shows will cost an additional $2.

Bingo & Quarter Auction

The Downtown Pascoag & Neighborhood Association will host a bingo and quarter auction event on Saturday, June 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Beckwith-Bruckshaw Lodge at Lodge Road. Tickets cost $10 for adults or $5 for children under 12 and include eight rounds of bingo and six quarter auction paddles. Pay at the door or preorder via Venmo to @downtown-pascoag.

Binns re-dedication

Berard Desjarlais American Legion Post 88 will hold a re-dedication ceremony of the Binn’s Building at 111 Chapel St. on Sunday, June 22 starting at 2 p.m., with an open house to follow until 4 p.m. Visitors are invited to help celebrate the addition of Nancy F. Binns to the name of the building to join her father George E. Binns. Light Refreshments wil be served.

Town meetings

The Burrillville 250 Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, June 16 starting at 7 p.m. at the Wallace Lees Safety Complex at 1477 Victory Highway. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville School Committee will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 17 starting at 1 p.m. at the administrative building at 2300 Broncos Highway. The agenda is here.
