GLOCESTER – A Pawtucket woman is facing charges after police discovered numerous illegal items in her vehicle during a traffic stop this week on Putnam Pike.

Erica Barratt, 33, was been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of possession of fireworks following the incident on Tuesday, June 17.

According to the Glocester Police Department, officers stopped Barratt’s vehicle after observing numerous traffic violations.

During the investigation and subsequent search of the vehicle, police reportedly discovered numerous illegal aerial fireworks, around two pounds of marijuana in various packages, 30 psilocybin mushroom candy bars, a digital scale and $757 in cash.

Barratt was taken into custody and arraigned in Third District Court and was held without bail pending a status conference scheduled for Tuesday, June 24.

Police issued a warning to residents after the incident, advising that they leave fireworks displays to licensed experts and celebrate safely.

“With the Fourth of July quickly approaching, the Glocester Police Department reminds the public that possession or use of illegal aerial fireworks is a felony in Rhode Island,” the department noted. “These devices are extremely dangerous and have the potential to cause serious, life-threatening injuries when not handled by professionals.”
