July 4
Town Hall will be closing early, at 4 p.m., on Thursday, July 3 and closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Trash collection will be delayed one day starting on Friday due to the holiday, and there will be no recycling hours at 281 Quaker Highway on Saturday, July 5.

Ranger walk
Join a park ranger for a tour of Slatersville on Saturday, July 5 starting at 10 a.m. at 101 Green St. Learn about the early history of the village and consider its significance as a company town. The tour will focus on industry and the religious beliefs of settlers in this town.
Participants should wear comfortable footwear and bring water. The tour includes walking on uneven surfaces and varying types of terrain, and bug spray and sunscreen are highly suggested.
The tour is presented in partnership with North Smithfield Heritage Association.

This week at The Island at 1600 Victory Highway, catch Heather Deary Acoustic on Thursday, July 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. On Saturday, July 5, Freudian Slip will play from 7 to 10 p.m. and on Sunday, July 6, it’s Jonny Debit from 3 to 6 p.m.
Tennis lessons
The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department will offer tennis lessons starting next week, open to all North Smithfield students in grades 1-12. Lessons will run Tuesdays and Thursday from July 8 through July 31 and cost $80. More information and registration can be found here.
