Waterpark Wednesdays

Jesse Smith Library’s Waterpark Wednesdays on the Riverwalk begin this week, a drop-in style program best for grades 5 and under with their families. Visit the area behind the library at 100 Tinkham Lane from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2 to enjoy two splash pads, squirt toys, a sprinkler and more.

Additional events are scheduled for July 16 and 30 but are weather dependent and may be cancelled in the event of a water ban.

July 4

Town Hall will be closed on Friday, July 4 and there will be no trash or recycling pickup in Burrillville, with Friday’s trash collection moved to Saturday, July 5.

For those looking for a way to start off the holiday, Pascoag Cafe at 150 Pascoag Main St. will host a breakfast buffet on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with all-you-can-eat eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries and toast for $10 while supplies last.

Herb Walk

Black Sun Farm at 85 West Ironstone Road will host a Medicinal Herb Walk & Comfrey Workshop on Sunday, July 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests are invited to walk the farm grounds and pick some wild medicinal plants, then make some herbal preparations with the dicoveries. Learn how to make powerful comfrey oil to heal bruises and sprains, and take home your herbal creations.

Tickets cost $35 per person and are available here.

Retirement

Congratulations to Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department Administrative Aide Carol Conway, who retired last week after more than 28 year of service to the town. Conway signed off from the department’s Facebook page following her last day on Friday, June 27.

“Thank you for all the wonderful people I have met along the way and the memories I’ve been honored to make,” Conway noted.
