BURRILLVILLE – A search of the home where police were greeted by a man pointing a loaded handgun at a Burrillville officer last week resulted in seizure of six additional firearms and 27 extended magazines, according to a second release from police sent out on Monday.
Nicholas Smith, 40, is now facing an additional charge of possession of extended magazines following further investigation of the incident on Thursday, July 3.

According to the initial information sent out last week, officers reported to the area of 1425 Tarkiln Road at 8:36 a.m. on Thursday, July 3 and knocked on the rear door of the home. Smith reportedly confronted the first officer he saw, pointing a loaded 9 mm handgun inches from Officer Karhleen Kelley’s face.
Kelley was able to disarm him and Smith was taken into custody on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, discharging a firearm within a compact area, simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Following the incident, the Burrillville Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at the residence and located six additional firearms – three handguns and three long guns, including an AR 15 – and 27 extended magazines for both an assault rifle and the handguns.
Police shared body-worn-camera footage from the camera of BPD Officer Devon Itzkowitz, which captures the interaction between Smith and Kelley as she is knocking on the door of the residence at 1425 Tarkilin Road on the morning of July 3.
Smith was arraigned at the Burrillville Police Headquarters before a bail commissioner and released on $10,000 bail with surety. Formal arraignment at 6th District Court in Providence is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8.
