BURRILLVILLE – This week’s Sunday cartoon reminds kids about safety when playing baseball. The 2022 Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball season is now underway, and with warmer weather and sunny days ahead, little kids will be outside playing baseball in their own backyards, nearby parks and empty parking lots.
What these kids need to know is how to play baseball safely and avoid unintended injuries while playing this sport in their own neighborhoods. Kids should always stretch first before playing baseball. This helps prevent muscle strains and cramping. Staying hydrated while playing baseball helps kids avoid heat stroke and dehydration outside during the day. Kids should also drink plenty of water and rest whenever they get the chance to do so. Limiting time playing baseball in the sun is also very important to help avoid sunburns and overexposure to the heat. If there are shady locations where they are playing baseball please tell them to spend some time in those spots and limit their sun exposure.
This baseball season should see life returning to normal, with filled baseball parks after more than two years of restricted play times and fans attending these games. DiPonti Communications Radio stations will be airing live WooSox home baseball games this season, and distributing an entire series of these kids backyard baseball safety coloring posters to little kids during their live radio broadcasts and podcasts, as well as at area businesses, restaurants, diners, retail locations and community events reminding them to play baseball safely during the entire 2022 MLB season.
Go Red Sox and WooSox!
