New budget

After failure of the financial referendum last month, town officials have announced that a new proposed budget is now available, with a public hearing to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Copies of the budget are available in the office of the finance director and can also be found at FY2023 School Budget for Public Hearing  and  FY2023 Town Budget for Public Hearing.

The second financial town referendum to vote on the budget for FY 2022-2023, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Glocester Senior Center at 1210 Putnam Pike from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

You must be a Glocester registered voter to cast a vote at the referendum.

Car wash

Ponaganset Football & Cheer will hold a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Alltown at 471 Putnam Pike in Greenville. Visitors are also welcome to drop off donations to support the program.

Fall open house

Brown & Hopkins Country Store will hold its fall open house this weekend, with complimentary food and drink samples and seasonal displays. Shop for fall decor, spooky Halloween items, and Autumnal candles with hours Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dispatcher wanted

The town of Glocester is seeking a part time dispatcher to work up to 20 hours per week on a rotating schedule, earning $18.51 per hour. Applicants must be prepared to work a variety of shifts and occasional call-ins with short notice. General duties will include: answering emergency and routine phone calls, dispatching police and fire emergency services, greeting the public, and performing typing, filing, clerical, and data entry duties. Preference will be given to prospective applicants who have prior fire service and law enforcement dispatch experience.

Applications are available from the finance office at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike, Chepachet and must be submitted before Thursday, Sept. 22. More information and qualifications can be found here.

Town meetings

The Foster Glocester Regional School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6 starting at 7 p.m. in the library at Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wad Road. The agenda can be found here.

The Glocester Economic Development Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
