NORTH SMITHFIELD – The driver in an early morning crash on Route 146 Northbound on Wednesday, Nov. 27 had to be extricated from the vehicle, but escaped with minor injuries.
The single-vehicle crash by Exit 14 to Forestdale/Slatersville took place around 2:30 a.m. causing a temporary blockage of the northbound lanes. Emergency responders from North Smithfield Fire and Rescue found the driver entrapped in the pickup truck.

Chartier said the driver was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reported that the road was cleared by around 3:30 p.m.
