NORTH SMITHFIELD – Police have arrested the a Chepachet man accused of breaking into a Victory Highway bar last month and stealing several items.
Russell Berard, 57, has been charged with breaking and entering with criminal intent and larceny, both felonies, as well as vandalism.
According to North Smithfield police, Berard was involved in a break in at The Island at 1600 Victory Highway on Saturday Nov. 16, where alcohol and food was stolen, as well as speakers and other miscellaneous items. The suspect also reportedly vandalized security cameras that were set up around the property.
The bar released photos from the cameras on social media last month asking for the public’s help.
A warrant was issued for Berard following an investigation by NSPD and he was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 21, according to police.
Berard’s next court date is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27.
