Registration support

North Smithfield Elementary School at 2214 Providence Pike will hold a support session to help caregivers enrolling a child in kindergarten for the 2025/2026 school year on Tuesday, March 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. Registration is open here for children who will be age 5 on or before August 31.

Pantry dates

The North Smithfield Food Pantry has announced that pickup dates in January will take place on Tuesdays, March 18 and 25 starting at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays, March 22 and 29 starting 10 a.m.

The Food Pantry is open to North Smithfield residents who must have a photo ID and a bill that confirms their address. Guests can attend the pantry all open dates each month at the Slatersville Congregational Church UCC on the Common.

For the month of March, the pantry is seeking donations of soup, beans and tuna.

Primrose talk

The North Smithfield Heritage Association will host noted historian and author Marty Podskoch on Friday, March 21 for a talk about Civilian Conservation Corps program and its Primrose Camp during the Great Depression. NSHA will also display artifacts from the camp at the event, set to take place at Heritage Hall at 101 Green St. starting at 7 p.m.

Scholarship t-shirts

Family and friends of the late Joe Rossi are now selling t-shirts to support a scholarship fund in his memory. Rossi, a graduate of North Smithfield High School, lost his life in a motorcycle accident on August 24, 2024, just before his 21st birthday. All net proceeds will go to a scholarship for a graduating NSHS senior entering a trade school. The effort is also part of a senior project for student Kailey Salinaro.
