BURRILLVILLE – Memorial Day weekend traditionally means family and friends gathering together and hosting barbecues in the backyard while celebrating the holiday. It’s extremely important to remember to keep little kids at least three feet away from open flames and hot grills this weekend and throughout the summer months.

The Fearless Dino Protector Squad has been educating kids and families about fire safety and burn prevention since the late 1990s here in Rhode Island, New England and nationwide with Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Shriners Burns Center and Boston Children’s Hospital as primary associates distributing kids safety coloring cartoons and fridge magnets to children hoping to keep them safer. Safe Kids USA and Safe Kids Rhode Island have presented awards for the FDPS fire safety and burn prevention campaigns over the years.

Kids should stop, drop and roll if their clothes catch on fire until flames are completely extinguished.

Have a fun and fire safe Memorial Day weekend!
