Car cruise, Blount night & outdoor music: Seven things to know in North Smithfield this week

Pickup delay

Trash and recycling pick up will be delayed by one day this week following the Memorial Day holiday. It is a recycling pickup week in North Smithfield and there will be no yard waste collected on Saturday, May 31.

Car cruise

Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive will host its first car cruise of the 2025 season on Tuesday, May 27, with guests invited to the grounds of the business to view classic and antique cars. The free car cruise nights will continue every Tuesday through the summer from 3 to 8 p.m. weather permitting, and are open to the public.

Food truck night

Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery at 200 Woonsocket Hill Road will have Blount food truck night on Wednesday, May 28, with the clam shack on site selling chowder and other seafood dishes from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Grab dinner and dessert while you visit the cows.

Summer volleyball

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department has opened registration for a youth summer volleyball league, set to take place Tuesdays for clinic/play for ages 9 to 15, and Thursday evenings for high school play, at Pacheco Park, starting July 10. Registration can be found on the town website here.

Open for the season

Goodwin Brothers Farm Stand offered some hours with a limited stock over the holiday weekend, but will officially open for the 2025 season on Friday, May 30 at 9 a.m. The store at 458 Greenville Road will open daily at 9 a.m. through November 3, when they switch to more limited fall hours. Produce, eggs, milk, and bread will all be stocked by or on Friday, May 30, according to the business.

Live music

The Island at 1600 Victory Highway has begun its summer concert season, with two events scheduled for the coming weekend. On Saturday, May 31, Black Plain Road will perform at the outdoor pavilion from 6 to 10 p.m. On Sunday, June 1, catch Alias Acoustic at the venue from 2 to 4 p.m. Both shows are open to the public.

The Plastic Palace at Lindy’s Tavern at 98 School St. is also open and the Supermags will play at the venue – located just behind the restaurant – on Saturday, May 31 starting at 8 p.m. On Sunday, June 1, the palace will host a meat raffle with tickets to go on sale starting at 2 p.m.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Zoning Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 27 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
