GLOCESTER – The Chepachet Grange held their annual Community Service Award Night on Tuesday, June 3 under the direction of Community Service Chairperson Marie Robidoux.
Melissa Bouvier, director of the Glocester Senior Center received the Grange’s Citizen of the Year Award. Bouvier is also a founding member of the Glocester Village Common and sits on the group’s Steering Committee.
The Grange named Fogarty Memorial Elementary School teacher Jessica Warren their 2025 Teacher of the Year.
The organization’s group award went to the St. Vincent dePaul Society of St. Eugene Church in Chepachet, with presentation to members Melanie Catineault, Donna Wyatt, Wesley Wyatt, Cheryl Previte, Camille Bucci and Nicole Previte.
Roy Shippee of the South Foster Volunteer Fire Company was named Firefighter of the Year, and Lt. Jeffrey Jenison of the Glocester Police Department was named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Jenison, who has worked for the department since 2004, was also a nominee for the Rhode Island Special Olympics Elwood Johnson Outstanding Service Award this year, and was recognized by the United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island for outstanding contributions to public safety in 2024.
In addition to the Grange honors, Councilor Stephanie Calise presented citations to each of the awardees, as well as the organization, from the Glocester Town Council.
All awardees were also given a gift and a plaque from the Grange.
The Grange also honored Marie and Dennis Robidoux, the owners of White Rock Motel, with their 50-year pin, signifying the couple’s years of being involved with the organization.
The awards night also included a special presentation from the Rhode Island State Youth Grange. The group held a walk-a-thon in Chepachet and raised $1,700, which was presented to Jennifer Grundy, animal control officer at the Glocester Animal Shelter.
