WOONSOCKET – A man who was already wanted on unrelated domestic violence charges in Burrillville was arrested on Friday, June 20 after he allegedly tried to put his girlfriend’s neck in a “noose” made from a phone charging cable, police say.
Anthony Dutra, 50, of 2557 Diamond Hill Road, Apt. 5, is facing Woonsocket police charges of domestic assault, domestic refusal to relinquish a telephone and domestic disorderly conduct.
When police arrived an adult female in the apartment told officers Dutra started shoving her around, threatening to harm himself and her. Police reports say Dutra fashioned a noose from a lightning charging cable and tried to get it around the woman’s neck.

Police found the noose hanging from the headboard of a bed in the apartment when they arrived about 2:20 a.m.
The victim is described as “handicapped” in a police report, but there is no further elaboration on the nature of the disability.
The victim told police Dutra took her cell phone away from her during the frightening ordeal, initially preventing her from calling for help. She was ultimately able to escape and find a phone in the living room, at which point she dialed 911.
Dutra is now facing two sets of domestic violence charges after he was taken into custody.
The Burrillville Police Department had an active warrant for Dutra’s arrest on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct, according to the judiciary’s web site. Those charges stem from an offense that occurred on April 25.
After an appearance in Sixth District Court, Dutra is free on personal recognize pending hearings scheduled for Monday, June 30, on the Woonsocket police charges, and Tuesday, July 8 on Burrillville’s, court records say.
And he is free? Waiting for him to kill her?
