
EMMITSBURG, Md. – Seven Members of the Pascoag Fire Department traveled to the National Fire Academy over the weekend to complete a series of training classes and attend the annual Memorial Service for the Line of Duty Deaths.
Members took part in classes from Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13 and thanked other local firefighters and EMTs for covering the village while they were away in a release this week.

Classes included “Strategy and Tactics for Initial Company Operations,” completed by Michael Dexter Jr. Chief Michael Dexter, meanwhile, completed a series on executive skills and exercising leadership ethically. Alexis Silva took “Supervising EMS,” and Brian Champagne, Douglas Fullerton, Dillon Lamoureux and Kevin Stockwell completed “Command and Control of Wildland Urban Interface Fire Operations for the Structural Chief Officer.”
The group also participated in the yearly memorial service, recognizing members from the states of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and South Carolina who have lost their lives in the line of duty. As in past years, the late Firefighter Lawrence Gingell of the Harrisville Fire Department and Lt. Richard Jenks of the Pascoag Fire Department were mentioned in the ceremony.
Former Harrisville and Pascoag Fire Chief Mark St. Pierre helped to organize the yearly training.
“We hope to see more fire fighters next year,” noted the release.
The 2026 NFA Weekend is planned for July 10 through July 12 next year. The classes being offered next year are available for any full time, per diem or volunteer firefighters from the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island or South Carolina.
