PROVIDENCE – Hasbro Children’s Hospital announced its 2024 Brite Lite award winners and a nurse from North Smithfield was among the five individuals recognized from more than 40 nominations.
Maddison Zuba, a BSN, RN, who works in Hasbro’s pediatric float pool, was honored at a recent ceremony held in the hospital’s Balise Healing Garden. Recipients are Brown University Health employees nominated by patients and their families for their dedication to and compassion for pediatric patients under their care.

The Brite Lite employee recognition program was launched in 2002, and highlights five employees who have gone above and beyond their everyday duties to make the patients and families with whom they come into contact feel safe, important, and well cared for.
Zuba’s nomination form points to her “extreme kindness, patience, and empathy.”

“Truly compassionate and genuine,” it notes. “I can’t express how incredibly grateful I am to have had a nurse like her caring for my sick child. She is an absolute asset to Hasbro, and a special individual.”
The “Brite Lites” are selected as those who best exemplify Brown University Health’s C.A.R.E values at Hasbro: Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
“What a special day to be able to come together to recognize and celebrate the outstanding work and high-quality care provided to our patients every day,” said Sarah Frost, chief of hospital operations at Brown University Health and president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. “This unwavering dedication to the best interests of our patients and community while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety truly makes a difference in the lives of our patients and families – giving us much to be proud of.”
