
Little League
Congratulations to Burrillville Little League’s Major Division ages 11-12 all-star baseball team on becoming the Rhode Island State Champions in a 6-0 victory over Coventry Saturday night. The team will now head to Bristol, Conn. to represent Rhode Island in the Regional Tournament.
A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help the team with expenses including travel, lodging and meals for the trip.
Bus hearings
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority has proposed eliminating Route 9X serving Burrillville, Glocester and Smithfield and will hold public hearings on the plan this week. A hearing will be held at Woonsocket Public Library at 303 Clinton St. on Monday, July 28 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and on Thursday, July 31 at Pawtucket Public Library at 13 Summer St. from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Additional hearings will be held on Monday, August 4 at Providence Foundation at 30 Exchange Terrace from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Beaver flow
The public is invited to observe the installation of a beaver flow device at Westcott’s Pond at 310 Eagle Peak Road on Tuesday, July 29 starting at 9:30 a.m. Beaver flow devices are an alternative to euthanizing nuisance beavers and Roberta Lacey will be on site to answer any questions on the process, permitting, and cost.
Riverwalk
The Riverwalk Times Concert Series continues this week with a performance by The Live Music Band on Saturday, August 2 at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion starting at 6 p.m. The Dinolicious food truck will be on site and visitors are invited to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the free show.
School supply drive
Holly’s Angels is now holding a back-to-school supply drive, collecting donations of pens, pencils, notebooks, crayons, markers, colored pencils, binders, folders, erasers, glue sticks, index cards, backpacks and more. Donations can be dropped off in a bin at 20 New St. in Mapleville through Friday, August 15. If pickup is needed call Amanda at (401) 771-8301.

The Harrisville Fire District will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, July 29 starting at 7 p.m. at 115 Central St. The agenda is here.
