
Back to school
North Smithfield Elementary School at 2214 Providence Pike will host Back to School Night on Monday, August 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria and gym, with an open house for all students entering grades 1 to 4. The school will hold a preschool open house on Friday, August 29 from 9 to 10 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m.
The first day of school for students in grades 1-12 in North Smithfield schools is Wednesday, August 27. Bus Routes are available on the Dattco website here.

Open House
Ten Lives Cat Rescue will hold an open house at North Smithfield Pet Smart at 15 Dowling Village Blvd. on Wednesday, August 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. Meet some adoptable cats, learn how you can get involved through volunteering or adoption, and browse items for purchase for you and your feline friend.
Redneck Regatta
The 5th annual RedNeck Regatta will take place at The Island at 1600 Victory Highway on Saturday, August 30 with food, live music and floats on the Slatersville Reservoir. Paddles are in for those participating at 1 p.m. or guests are invited to hang back and listen to Lacey Cheryl on acoustic guitar from 2 to 5 p.m. Sayles Hill Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m.
Tickets cost $20 and come with a sandwich of your choice along chips and a limited edition Redneck Regatta 2025 t-shirt for those who register in advance at the bar or online here.
The rain date for the event is Sunday, August 31.
Free training
The North Smithfield Emergency Management Agency will hold a three hour life-saving program with hands only CPR & AED and Stop the Bleed on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scouter’s Hall. The free course is open to the first 50 residents who must register by contacting Richard Savaria at (401) 527-8959.
Adult tennis
The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department will hold an adult tennis program at the courts at North Smithfield High School on Saturdays beginning September 6 through October 11. Beginners will work on techniques, drill and match play with coach Diana Adamczyk from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. and advanced beginners will take the courts from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.

Notice
The North Smithfield Police Department is notifying residents that two sex Level III offenders recently registered residence in town.
Willy Eugene Dandy, 67, is now living at 747 Eddie Dowling Highway, according to the state database. Dandy was convicted of first degree sexual assault in 2005.
Raymond Grenier, 71, is now living at 89 Bellevue Ave. and was convicted of second degree child molestation in 2008.
