BURRILLVILLE – The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a telephone pole Friday night, shutting down both the roadway and power to a section of town, was arrested following the incident and is now facing several charges.
Garrett Dailey, age 20, of Burrillville, was the sole occupant in a single-car motor vehicle crash, according to Burrillville Police Major Albert Carlow.

Officers dispatched to the area of 67 Nichols Road around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, August 29 observed a white 2009 Chevrolet with heavy front end damage and airbag deployment, said Carlow. The pole had reportedly been severed at the base, with electrical wires in the roadway.
“It was determined Mr. Dailey was traveling on Nichols Road, when his vehicle began to drift and struck the telephone pole,” noted Carlow.
Rescue personnel assessed Dailey and reportedly completed a patient refusal. While speaking with Dailey, officers observed signs of impairment and asked him to submit to series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to police.
Dailey was arrested and charged with DUI, BAC Unkown-1st Offense, reckless driving, vandalism, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was also issued several traffic violations.
Dailey was processed, held overnight, and arraigned in 6th District Court the following morning. He was released on a $2,500 surety bond and is due back in court on Thursday, Nov. 20.
