Sunday cartoon: Kids in backseats are safer

BURRILLVILLE – With all schools now back in session for the 2025/2026 school year, many kids are being transported back and forth to school and home riding as passengers inside family vehicles. I am on the road early in the morning and sometimes just after school ends for the day, traveling to business meetings and afternoon car shows during the busy weekdays, and often see little kids riding in front passenger seats who are not 12-years-old or older. It’s not all the time, but on occasion, I do witness this happening. Driving a large pick up truck allows me to glance inside passing vehicles traveling from the opposite direction and I notice this potential safety hazard regarding little kids.

If a child is under the age of 12 years old the safest place for them to ride is boosted up or buckled up in a vehicle backseat. Infants and toddlers should always be properly restrained in rear-facing car seats in vehicle backseats.

September is National Child Passenger Safety Month and Buckleupallofus wants to remind kids to always wear seatbelts in backseats, for safety’s sake every school day.
