GLOCESTER – The owners of the building where Glocester Family Chiropractic operated for nearly two decades prior to the death of Dr. Matt Stone in July say they have found a new doctor to carry on the tradition of care, with plans to reopen at the location.

Stone, a Pascoag resident, opened the practice at 712 Putnam Pike in 2007, and built a strong business that closed following his unexpected death at the age of 49.

The plaza is owned by Adler Brothers Development, and this week the company announced that a new doctor could be in place as soon as November.

“We have had many folks ask about the status of Doctor Stone’s practice and if another chiropractor will be stepping in to continue providing care,” noted Adler Bros. “The short answer is yes, however the details are still being worked out.”

Jeremiah Adler of Adler Bros. told NRI NOW that they are not yet ready to announce the new doctor’s name, but what’s clear is the individual will have big shoes to fill.

Stone, a graduate of Burrillville High School, achieved the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel as the Provisional Battalion Commander at Norwich University – the oldest private senior military college in the country – before earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College.

In Burrillville, he was once captain of the varsity ice hockey, football and baseball teams, and returned to his love of hockey as an adult, coaching with the Burrillville Junior Hockey League. He went on to coach youth hockey with the Providence Junior Friars and Providence Hockey Club while also serving as a volunteer assistant coach with the Burrillville High School boys hockey team, where he helped lead the group to back-to-back Division I state championships in 2015 and 2016.

His business in Chepachet also thrived, with patients often testifying to his dedication and caring nature.

Stone’s wife, Tracey Stone, is also helping to spread the word about the current effort to secure a replacement.

“Doc would want me to make sure that his patients are given the opportunity to continue their care in that location and I have been working to find just the right doctor that I know he would approve of,” she noted.

Adler clarified that the new chiropractor will be going under a different name than Stone’s Glocester Family Chiropractic.

“We would love to see someone continue the practice he spent 18 years building and we believe we have found the right doctor,” Adler noted.

  1. It’s so great to hear that another doctor is stepping in to carry on for Dr. Stone. He will be missed greatly, but having the practice staying in place will bring a bit of peace to the community! I hope it brings peace to Dr. Stone’s family, too! Thank you Tracey and Laurie for doing all the very hard things that had to be done in order to make the next phase possible! Your hard work is truly appreciated!!
