BURRILLVILLE – On Saturday evening, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m., at the gazebo at the Burrillville Town Common on Harrisville Main Street, people will to gather to remember Charlie Kirk at a peaceful candle lit vigil, said organizer Brianna LaCanforte, 20, of Burrilville.
LaCanforte recently attended a vigil for Kirk in Cranston and says she thought this area of the state should also publicly remember Kirk.
Kirk, an American right-wing political activist, entrepreneur, and media personality, co-founded the conservative organization Turning Point USA and was its executive director. He hosted The Charlie Kirk Show and published several books.
Kirk was assassinated while addressing an audience on the campus of Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

LaCanforte spoke with friends and others, and says she discovered that they, too, would want to attend a vigil in the area. She asked for permission from the town to hold the event.
LaCanforte said the gazebo is a “safe space to talk, grieve, get together.”
The young woman said she is holding the vigil because slain 31-year-old conservative political leader “had a big impact on me and others.”
“I really liked how well spoken Charlie Kirk was, and that he was passionate about what he believed in, and that he was peaceful about what he debated,” she said, adding that Kirk was “respectful to all.”
A college student in her junior year studying occupational therapy, LaCanforte “started getting his videos about when COVID hit, 2020; I was a sophomore in high school.”
“Charlie Kirk was very good at listening; he was open to other people’s views,” she said.

Here is a fact, Charlie Kirk gave zero money raised to charities to help feed, house, or cloth the less fortunate. Charlie said he was a Christian and believed in the Bible and God. Here are some quotes from the Bible.
Luke 14:13: Jesus instructs to “invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous”.
Acts 20:35: The Apostle Paul reminds us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” urging believers to help the weak.
Sure… have a vigil for all these children that were killed.. have a vigil for murder victims.. but don’t knock having a vigil that tried to keep an open dialog about everything wrong right now. He spoke the truth in a civilized way. It’s the crazy leftists that go up to the microphone and try to provoke him with stupid comments or insults for their moment of glory. Listen to the whole thing.
Oh, civilized – like when he told Taylor Swift to “submit to her husband”
On speaking the truth: […] Women should have children, not careers…”
How about these gems?
“If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified”
“Prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people — that’s a fact”
“Black people were better off in slavery and subjugation before the 1940s … It was bad & it was evil, but they committed less crimes.”
Or how about when he said if his 10 year old daughter was raped, she should be forced to deliver the baby?
He did not try to keep an open dialog. He constantly spewed very racist and biggotted comments.
Thank you for that truth! I am baffled that they are putting this person right up there with the Holiest of em. Kirk spewed so much arrogance and was so condescending it really makes no sense. But I figure it’s because Trump liked him, and many like Trump, so they agree. Herd mentality.
I never knew of Kirk, so watched videos to see what he was all about, and surprisingly, videos showed exactly what you have stated there Mr Buck…..Kirk was not a humanitarian at all.
This guy does not deserve to be a martyr. He indicated people have less processing power in their minds because they are black. He also suggested that a black congresswoman was in Congress because of DEI, while failing to acknowledge that congresspeople are voted into office. DEI didn’t get her there millions of voters in her district did. He suggested black pilots are in their positions because of DEI, while failing to recognize 70% of all
commercial pilots have previous military experience; and all pilots have to pass a licensing test on the type of craft they fly. The qualifications are literally the same, it’s a heavily regulated industry. For all the talk that he was a superior intellect, many of his arguments were stupid; he was a racist, and he was a sexist. Go look at his own words. Did he deserve to die? Of course not. He had the right to free speech even if it bordered on hate speech. Does he deserve a public vigil? Of course not.
He said that comment about one person, not the entire Black race so that was a lie. That congresswoman wasn’t a good VP, I believe she was DEI pick as well.
Also did you know companies like United Airlines actually participated in DEI hiring practices? Charlie’s concerns were legitimate
United Airlines has gone on the record stating that 5,000 new pilots will be hired and half of them will be women and persons of color. They are going to be working with primarily black colleges to obtain this. That’s a DEI hire if I’ve ever seen one and most certainly trying to fill a quota that is supposed to be illegal.
To Brianna and the other organizers that put on this beautiful service, thank you for doing so! There are decent people in this state still and I witnessed it last night. Charlie was misunderstood and shunned before, during, and after his death. Thank you for seeing through that and listening to what he was actually trying to say, and honoring him.
To your friend that helped you organize the event that met Charlie, I’m sorry for the loss you feel. It can feel surreal when you see someone in person and then the next minute they’re gone forever. Remember, he lives on in you!
If you really listened, really listened you would come to understand that he was not racist.2 young black people have stepped up to clearly state his compassion & empathy for ALL PEOPLE.. . PLUS BEING RACIST DOES NOT FIT THE CHRISTIAN NARRATIVE & HE DID ABODE BY THE BOOK, SHALLOM
The ability to have peaceful discourse is LITERALLY a cornerstone of the foundation on which our entire Republic was built upon. Even our founders didn’t agree on everything & had many passionate & spirited debates to work out their differences in order to draft our Constitution. If we lose that – our Republic falls.
Amazes me how people will host a vigil for someone who said gun deaths were justified for having our 2nd ammendment, but not for all of the innocent children murdered by gun violence.
Will she host a vigil for the 976 children that have been killed by guns this year in the U.S.?
Another one taken out of context. Im sure you watched the whole interview.
I didnt know the gun killed them? Pretty sure its deranged people that do this, but keep peddling your leftist nonsense.
“Gun Violence”, is violence committed with a gun. Not that the gun comitted the violence itself.
Charlie Kirk said that having people dying from gun violence was a price worth paying in order to have our 2nd Ammendment to protect against tyranical government.
So my argument that if Charlie Kirk, a victim of gun violence, is worth having a vigil for, then so are the 976 CHILDREN who have been killed this year by gun violence.
But we all know that not a single “large” public vigil will be held for these kids by the by the same people honoring Charlie Kirk. Because the party “for the children” doesn’t actually care about children being murdered.
They care more about honoring political influencers and podcasters who preached the benefits of gun ownership, rather than children sitting in classrooms mowerd down by crazed gunmen.
Listen to his whole point and not the liberal short quote.
Will you host a vigil for the 250,000 children who were trafficked into the US by Resident (not a typo) Biden and subsequently went missing? I wonder how many of those were sold into sex slavery and/or indentured servitude?
That actually defends my point even more. Where are the vigils for those children? Or do they not matter because they weren’t born here?
But, let’s keep honoring a single guy whose greatest achievement was making edgy and provacative twitter posts.
You could always host your own vigil
She’s 20 years old. Give her a break.
Since the children are on your heart, you should host a vigil. She’s doing what’s on her heart for who influence her.
“Respectful to all”. That’s rich…
Obviously you never watched him so there’s that.
