NORTH SMITHFIELD – The town notified residents on Thursday that water to a section of Slatersville would be be shut down on Friday, Oct. 10 due to a water main break, but water officials were able to quickly resolve the issue the following morning.

Water was shut down from 114 Green St. to Hercules Pizza starting at 8 a.m. according to a release from the town.

Previously, a town notice stated the area affected would be from 2 Greene St. to Hercules Pizza.

According to the updated information, the outage affected both Town Hall on Green Street and the Memorial Town Building, as well as Slatersville Congregational Church.

The shutdown allowed the water department to repair the water main break on Green Street, and was initially announced for an unknown duration.

Around 9:15 a.m. Friday morning, the town announced that the break had been repaired and the water was back on.

“You may see a slight discoloration,” noted a final release on the problem. “This is normal after a break and not harmful. Run your cold water for a bit to clear the line, and the color should go back to normal.”

Those with questions are instructed to contact the Water Department at (401) 767-2200 ext. 305.
