NORTH SMITHFIELD – A dairy farm and bakery in town has made the short list of great places to work in Rhode Island.
Wright’s Dairy Farm and Bakery on Woonsocket Hill Road ranked 4 among small-sized companies, according to a list published last week by The Providence Journal, with Chief Executive Officer Ellen Puccetti recognized for her leadership.

A fifth-generation family dairy farm serving northern Rhode Islanders for more than a century, Wright’s first started business as a home delivery milk route. The first deed for the current farm property in North Smithfield was recorded in 1896.
The bakery, started in Claire Wright’s kitchen ,quickly grew to include a full line of cream pastries, breakfast items and decorated cakes. A retail store was added in the 1970s, and a double milking parlor that was built on the farm in 2009.

Milk is processed and sold on site, and the dairy farm has slowly grown a wholesale milk delivery route to service coffee shops, bakeries, and small grocery stores. In 2019, Wright’s Dairy Farm opened an on-site ice cream shop out of a 1966 streamline trailer to promote its cow-to-cone ice cream.
The Wright’s Farm business now includes Wright’s Creamery at the Farm Fresh building in Providence, and a second trailer offering cow-to-cone ice cream open seasonally in Warren.
Wright’s Dairy has received a Vermont DHIA award for consistently producing high-quality milk, and was named Outstanding Dairy Farm by the Rhode Island Green Pastures Committee in 2019.

To compile the 2025 winners list, The Providence Journal reportedly worked with company Energage, and asked 1,151 organizations to survey their employees. The Top Workplaces in Rhode Island ranking was based on the survey feedback from all organizations that agreed to participate, with 19 earning recognition.
“Top Workplaces awards are a celebration of good news,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage, according to the publication, which also published a full list of recipients here. “They exemplify the significance of a people-first workplace experience, reminding us that employees are the heart of any thriving organization.”
“Thank you to our amazing team for making Wrights a place where people love to work,” noted the farm in announcing the news.
Wright’s has 130 employees in Rhode Island and is currently hiring, with a list of open positions found here.

Every time we go there the staff is friendly and exceptional customer service. Been going there for years. Keep up the good work!
I was there last week and the staff were great and friendly! I will keep patronizing this bakery…
Wright’s Dairy is a shining star in Northern RI, the bakery is great and the service is outstanding. With that being said, the survey by Energage focused only on the number of responses received. The data neglected to include salary and benefit information, hallmarks of great working environments. It might be nice to have a follow-up on the survey, to shed light on why individuals might seek employment at Wright’s.
The big red dog strikes again!!!
Indeed is as about as reliable as AOL dialup. It’s a global site infiltrated by bots. May have been relevant and credible 15 years ago. I’m sure that is more credible for you tho than the local RI publication.
Did you ever think that’s it’s U that changed and not everyone around you?
Have to try to ruin a nice piece on a local
Hallmark establishment! Not surprised.

Indeed only ranks Wrights at a 3.2 out of 5 which is not really that good. Also the service is lacking and the old time friendliness has dropped significantly.
don’t go then. thanks for spreading negativity. keep smiling sunshine.
