Open mic

Slatersville Congregational Church at 25 Green St. is scheduled to host an open mic on Friday, Oct. 24, an all ages sober safe event put on as part of the church’s ongoing Sanctuary Sounds series. For more information email [email protected].

Spooky Spirits Night

The town’s annual Spooky Spirits Night will be held at Goodwin Bros. Farm Stand at 458 Greenville Road on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. The event will feature food trucks, a warm cider sampling, face painting, spooky hayrides and more.

The rain date for the event is Sunday, Oct. 26.

Halloween softball

Participants and visitors are invited to an adult slowpitch softball game to benefit the North Smithfield Girls Softball league on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Pacheco Park, with three games to be played at 4, 5:50 and 7 p.m. Players can select a game at signup and teams will be determined via a blind glove draw ahead of the game.

The event will feature raffles, and food and merch for sale. Players are invited to to come in costume with prizes for bests. Registration costs is $15 per game for each player and is available here. Sign ups will be open until Thursday, Oct. 23 or until the games are full.

Veterans Brunch

Lindy’s Tavern at 98 School St. will a Veterans Appreciation Brunch on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event includes breakfast, free for veterans, with discounted tickets for kids and a USO style performances from Babe City Showgirl. Guests are advised to purchase tickets or reserve a spot early here as seating is limited.

Bark & Boo

A multi-rescue dog adoption event will be held at the Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive on Sunday, Oct. 26 from noon to 3 p.m. Enjoy delicious food, sweet treats and raffles while meeting pets available for adoption.

The event will include dogs there from Small Dog Rescue, Anchor Paws Rescue, Rhode Home Rescue, Go Fetch Rescue and Friends of Homeless Animals.  Representatives from Rumford Pet Center, Animal Talk, Sox N Whiskers, and Walkers Way Rescue will also be in attendance. 

No Kings rally on Saturday

Trunk or Treat

The North Smithfield Parent Teacher Organization will hold its annual Trunk or Treat event at North Smithfield Elementary School at 2214 Providence Pike on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. with indoor and outdoor displays, and food available for purchase. The event is open to N.S. families and costs $5 per child over age 2.

The group is still in need of families willing to decorate their trunks and pass out candy, and parents of trick or treaters can save time by registering their child in advance. Links for both are available here.

Autumn message

Smithfield Friends Meetinghouse at 108 Smithfield Road will offer a special service on Sunday, Oct. 26 starting at 10:30 a.m., with an autumn message delivered by Interfaith Minister Rev. Natalia de Rezendes. All are invited to the service featuring inspirational music and messages.

Next week at the library

Register now for three great events to be held next week at North Smithfield Library at 20 Main St. On Monday, Oct. 27 the library will host line dancing starting at 11 a.m., and at 6:30 p.m., it’s an evening meditation with Mary Scannell.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the library will host a spiritual medium starting at 6:30 p.m. Visitors will have the chance to to listen as she shares some of her exciting experiences and answers questions about mediumship.

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Oct. 20 starting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
