Application withdrawal
The town is notifying residents that FM Global’s request for a zone change for their property on Reynolds Road has been withdrawn. The business had applied to have sustainable energy projects among the allowed uses at their campus, and the Glocester Town Council was originally expected to have the request on their agenda for Thursday, Nov. 6.
A town notice released this week states that with the request withdrawn, public hearings will not be held.
Cancellation of the meeting comes amid news that high levels of PFAS have been discovered in wells surrounding the property.
NRI NOW will publish more information on that story this week.
Taxes
The town is also notifying residents that second quarter tax payments were due on Saturday, Nov. 1 and interest/penalties will be applied on December 1 if left unpaid, at the rate of 8 percent per annum retroactive to the due date. Bills can be paid at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; online by Visa, Mastercard or American Express at www.RIeGovernment.com; or by check via the payment drop box.
