Invasive plants

Visit Pascoag Public Library at 57 Church St. on Monday, Nov. 10 to learn about invasive plant species in Rhode Island with Paul Dolan, area director of the Rhode Island Resource Conservation & Development Council. Hear about various native and non-native plants at the drop in lecture, starting at 6 p.m.

Veterans Day

Town Hall will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11 to commemorate Veterans Day and there will be no trash or recycling pickup. Collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Veterans ceremony

The Burrillville Allied Veterans Council – American Legion Posts 17 and 88 and VFW Post 1023 will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11 starting at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park by The Brideway in Pascoag. The public is invited to attend and take part in the ceremony, rain or shine.

Calm & Crafty

At Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane, families with children age 5 and under are invited to Calm & Crafty: A Sensory-Aware Craft Group with Seven Hills on Friday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. No sign ups are needed for the drop-in style program, with craft activities that encourage creativity and connection.

Open skate

The Burrillville Junior Hockey League will hold an Open Skate Night at Levy Rink at Burrillville High School at 425 East Ave. on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 8 to 9:50 p.m. Admission costs $7 and limited skates will be available to borrow for free.

Santa calling

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting requests for the Santa Calling program, open to Burrillville children in grade 2 and under. Children will have the chance to speak to Santa by phone, with calls to be place from December 2 through 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. To register for a call, fill out the form below and return it to the department at 200 Clear River Drive by Friday, Nov. 21 by email to [email protected], fax to (401) 568-9457 or in person.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Nov. 10 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Personnel Board will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12 start at 8:30 a.m. at the town building at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Housing Authority will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the community room at 77 Ashton Court. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Sewer Commission will hold a meeting on on Wednesday, Nov. 12 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Wastewater Treatment Facility at 141 Clear River Drive. The agenda is here.
