BURRILLVILLE/NORTH SMITHFIELD – As the season of giving arrives, Brigido’s Fresh Markets is once again running its annual Thanksgiving bag donation program, an effort that store officials say continues to grow in impact each year.

Customers shopping at Brigido’s locations in Pascoag, Slatersville and Scituate have the option to purchase pre-assembled Thanksgiving bags filled with holiday essentials, including stuffing, gravy, canned vegetables, canned pumpkin, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. The bags are then collected and distributed to local families and individuals in need, ensuring more households can enjoy a traditional holiday meal.

This year, North Smithfield Town Clerk Joanne Buttie has reportedly played a hands-on role in the effort, visiting the stores weekly to collect donations. Buttie distributes the Thanksgiving bags to North Smithfield schools, elderly residents, and low-income seniors; groups who benefit greatly from community support during the holiday season.

Brigido’s also partners with a number of local organizations, including Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, a Johnston-based nonprofit that supports homeless and at-risk veterans. The store has also been working collaboratively with local churches, including Our Lady of Good Help and Berean Baptist Church in Burrillville to get bags to all who may need them.

The community partners check in with the store weekly to pick up additional donated bags, ensuring a steady flow of support right up until the holiday.

Bag donations will continue through Thanksgiving, and residents are encouraged to participate by purchasing one during their next shopping trip.

“Brigido’s Fresh Markets extends its gratitude to every customer, volunteer, and community organization working together to make this season brighter for local families, seniors, veterans, and anyone needing a helping hand,” noted a release on the effort.

Brigido’s stores are located at 900 Victory Highway in Slatersville and 54 Sayles Ave. in Pascoag, as well as at Village Plaza Way in North Scituate.
