GLOCESTER – A man whose criminal record of domestic violence goes back nearly a decade was arrested once again by Glocester police last month for assault and threats against his victim, who told police he was living with her against her will.

Nicholas Westenfelder, 31, of 204 Wells St., Woonsocket was charged with criminal violation of a no contact order, domestic assault and intimidation of a witness following his arrest on Sunday, Oct. 5.

According to the arrest report, the victim, a 38-year-old woman went to the Glocester Police Department to report that Westenfelder had been staying with her at the Lakeside Motel against her will since he got out of prison. Westenfelder was arrested by Glocester police in April for an incident based on a harrowing and violent account that he kidnapped, held and beat his victim, who only escaped once he fell asleep. He was subsequently charged with felony domestic violence, kidnapping and burglary, along with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, larceny, refusal to relinquish a telephone and violation of a no contact order following the incident.

Westenfelder has pled not guilty in that case and is due back in court for a pretrial conference next week.

In October, the victim told police she was afraid Westenfelder might harm or kill her if she didn’t let him stay with her, and that he assaulted her again on multiple occasions. She said Westenfelder told her to lie to the Grand Jury about the April case, threatening to harm her if she testified.

Officers note that the victim’s phone rang over and over again as she spoke to them – and when she eventually looked to see who it was she realized Westenfelder had tracked her location. The woman showed police texts including one stating “Did you forget I could see where you were – good thing I left huh?”

Westenfelder was picked up on the warrant in Woonsocket, taken into custody by Glocester police on October 7 and was held without bail.

On Friday, Oct. 31 Rhode Island State Police filed 37 counts of domestic violence/violation of a no contact order against him, in charges set for arraignment on Monday, Nov. 24.

An indictment on his April charges was filed in September.
