BURRILLVILLE – A man who over-consumed alcohol at a family gathering this month was arrested and charged with eight misdemeanors after reportedly attacking members of his household and the officers who responded to the scene.
John Charron, 39, of Staghead Drive, faced two counts of domestic violence, two counts of disorderly conduct, vandalism, simple assault, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer following the incident on Saturday, Nov. 15.

According to his arrest report, police responded to several 911 calls from Charron’s home just before 10 p.m. The victims were outside the house and said Charron may be locked inside, and that they were unsure if there were and firearms in the home.
They said Charron had returned home from a party and fell asleep on the couch, but woke up and began urinating in various bedrooms of the house. When a female victim became upset by the act, Charron began yelling at her, shoving her and pushed her into a closet door, which broke into pieces.
Charron then reportedly cornered the female victim, jump kicked her in the chest and continued kicking her as she tried to get up. A second occupant of the home came to help and was also reportedly attacked.
The victims said they escaped and waited in the driveway for police to arrive.
Inside the home, officers reportedly found Charron on the second floor and ordered him to come down the stairs. He began yelling at police to leave according to the report. Police say Charron came partially down the stairs, but retreated as they attempted to take him into custody, and knocked one officer down a staircase.
Charon then attempted to lock himself in a bathroom but was tased by officers. Damages observed after he was taken into custody included a hole he had reportedly punched through a wall and a broken window screen.
Charron pled no contest to the charges of assault and resisting arrest in 6th District Court, and the remaining count were dropped during a hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
