Northern RI – The Champlin Foundation has announced its list of 2025 Cycle 2 grant recipients, with northern Rhode Island schools and organizations on track to benefit from thousands in funding.

The recently announced awards include $89,292 for North Smithfield High School to be used for technology upgrades at the 9-12 grade school.

In Burrillville, the Episcopal Conference Center/camp on Reservoir Road will receive $37,155 to use toward new security cameras, a vehicle and furnishings. A 186-acre overnight summer camp and year-round conference center, ECC borders Echo Lake and is billed as a retreat where visitors can nurture authentic connections with God.

Another religion-focused camp in Glocester will also benefit, with Mother of Hope Camp to receive $27,445 for a new climbing wall. The 74-year-old youth camp on Putnam Pike is a ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.

The North Smithfield school will reportedly use the technology funding to purchase high-speed computers, including 30 laptops, as well as a laser cutter. The upgrades will help to enhance career and technical education programs, with equipment capable of supporting tasks such as rendering, simulation and development, according to school officials.

Town institutions also benefitted from the foundation’s Cycle 1 awards announced in June, with the North Smithfield Public Library and the North Smithfield Heritage Association receiving a total of $93,000 for capital upgrades.

The grants are among some $11.2 million in funds awarded to 98 organizations across Rhode Island announced last week. When added to the first round of grants distributed in the spring cycle, Champlin has awarded $19.6 million to 188 nonprofits that directly serve 30 Rhode Island cities and towns, as well as 17 organizations with statewide reach and impact. Funding was also awarded to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank for distribution to pantries across the state.
