School concerts

Several public schools in Burrillville will host holiday concerts this week, which are open to the entire Broncos community.

Burrillville Middle School at 2220 Bronco Highway will host a chorus concert in the auditorium of the school on Monday, Dec. 15 starting at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 16 is the Burrillville High School Holiday Concert starting at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the school at 425 East Ave.

The Burrillville Middle School band concerts will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, with 6th grade at 6 p.m. and 7th & 8th grades at 7 p.m., in the auditorium.

History of Firefighting

The Burrillville 250 Commission will hold a talk on the History of Firefighting in Burrillville on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane. An accompanying open house to view the town’s antique fire trucks will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon. On Saturday, participants will meet at 10 a.m. behind Callahan Elementary School at 75 Callahan School St.

The Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack program held a packing session and volunteer appreciation event last week, packing 320 bags of food.

Pipe organ carols

First Universalist Church at 134 Main St. in Harrisville will offer A Singing of Christmas Carols featuring the historic 1925 pipe organ on Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 7 to 8 p.m., with music played by Andrew J. Pariseau. All are welcome and the event is free to attend. The songs played will be determined by those in attendance, who will be invited to let the team know what carols they want to sing.

Candlelight service

First Universalist Church at 134 Harrisville Main St. will hold its annual candlelight service on Friday, Dec. 19 starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited to experience the candlelight Christmas service with refreshments to follow. All faiths are welcome and can also see the lighting of the church’s historic chandelier if they arrive 20 minutes before the service.

Open skate

The Burrillville Junior Hockey League will host an open skate night at Levy Rink at Burrillville High School on Saturday, Dec. 20 from 1 to 2:50 p.m. Admission is open to the public and costs $7 with free skate rentals available.

Christmas and holiday attire is encouraged

Overnight parking

The Burrillville Police Department is reminding residents that by ordinance, parking on town roads is prohibited between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. from November 1 through March 31. Those who violate the order may be subject to fines.

Depositing snow on any street is also a violation of town law. Those with questions are instructed to call (401) 568-6255.

Town meetings

The Burrillville 250 Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Dec. 15 starting at 7 p.m. at the Lees Safety Complex at 1477 Victory Highway. The agenda is here.

The Screening Subcommittee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 16 starting at 4 p.m. at the town building at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Conservation Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 16 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Binns Building at 111 Chapel St. The agenda is here.
