NORTON, Mass. – A storm blowing in Tuesday evening could cover northern Rhode Island with a coating of ice making for a slick commute Wednesday morning and possible power outages, according to a winter weather advisory from the U.S. National Weather Service.
Freezing rain is expected to begin around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, with a warning in effect until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Locations across interior southern New England may reportedly see ice accumulation between 0.1″ and 0.2″.

The weather service warns that roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous and difficult travel conditions are possible.
“The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes,” the advisory notes.
Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution and others should be prepared for possible power outages.
The storm will affect portions of northern Connecticut; central, eastern, northeastern, southeastern, and western Massachusetts; and northern Rhode Island.
