
Early voting
Early voting in the special election to decide if the town can take out a bond of up to $9 million for renovation of the North Smithfield Police Department at 575 Smithfield Road begins at Town Hall at 83 Green St. on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Registered voters in North Smithfield can cast a ballot through Monday, Feb. 2, during the hours of 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 8 a.m. through 7 p.m. on Thursday; and 8 a.m. through noon on Friday, excluding Monday, Jan. 19 as Town Hall will be closed for Martin Luther King Day.

Health fair
North Smithfield Elementary School will host a health fair on Thursday, Jan. 15 and the community is invited to attend an evening of health, wellness and fun from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Visit with vendors, meet with wellness experts and see exercise demos in the gymnasium of the school at 2214 Providence Pike.

Heritage Tour
The North Smithfield Heritage Association will hold a Heritage Tour on Saturday, Jan. 17 starting at 9:30 a.m. at North Smithfield High School. The tour will cover Primrose; Mathewson Farm & NS19, the Malavery House; Durrans Farm; Primrose Grange; NS30; Andrews Farm, Ethan Harris Tavern, Blackmar-Wing Farm ruins NS26 & 40, Sheldon Four Corners, Primrose Pond, CCC Camp, William Mowry House, Primrose RR Station, Richard Mowry House. Participants will meet at the parking lot on Grange Road.
Hormone optimization & wellness
Face First at 501 Great Road, Unit 105 will host a wellness and hormone optimization event on Saturday, Jan. 17 starting at 10:30 p.m. Guests are invited to learn about hormone replacement and GLP-1 medications in a presentation, and ask any questions they may have. Those who attend will receive $50 off a hormone or weight loss consult.

Scholarship
The George Nasuti Good Citizen Scholarship Committee has announced that they will once again be offering four $1,000 scholarships to seniors graduating from Woonsocket High School, Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center, North Smithfield High School or Beacon Charter High School.
Eligible students must be pursuing higher education by enrolling in an accredited two or four-year college or university or an accredited technical career school or training program. Scholarships will be awarded to those students who have an extraordinary commitment to community service and who have demonstrated creativity in shaping their volunteer activities.
Application forms are available at high school guidance offices. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office for submission to Scholarship Committee by Friday, May 1 to be considered.
Town meetings
The North Smithfield Board of Canvassers will hold a meeting on Monday, Jan. 12 starting at 10 a.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
The Economic Development Commission is expected to hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 14 starting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda will be posted 48 hours in advance on the Secretary of State’s website.
North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13 starting at 6 p.m. at Firefighter’s Hall at 1470 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.
