
State of the State rebuttal
Gov. Dan McKee will deliver his 2026 State of the State Address starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13 and the Republican response will be delivered by Rhode Island House Minority Leader Michael Chippendale. Chippendale, who represents District 40 in Glocester, Foster and Coventry, will offer the rebuttal immediately following McKee’s speech, to be televised by Capitol TV on Cox Communications channels 15 and 61, and on Verizon’s channel 34. Livestreaming will be available on the Capitol TV website.

Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike will host Tyler Fauxbel on Friday, Jan. 16 starting at 8 p.m., and Bootleggers on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. On Sunday, it’s the tavern’s weekly Roadhouse Blues starting at 3 p.m.
Hill’s Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will host Sean Ryan Acoustic on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Escape Route at 8 p.m.
Winter slime
Glocester Manton Library at 1137 Putnam Pike will host a winter slime drop in craft on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., open to all ages while supplies last. Visitors are invited to create winter-themed slime.
Re-accreditation
The Glocester Police Department has announced that a team of assessors from the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission will arrive at police headquarters in Thursday, Jan. 15. The commission will examine all aspects of the agency’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services as part of a voluntary process to ensure the department is meeting all current standards for excellence in law enforcement.
Agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments to the assessment team by telephone as part of the process by calling (401) 710-1482 on January 15 between noon and 1 p.m. Comments are limited to ten minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with RIPAC standards, which are available for review at GPD headquarters.
