BURRILLVILLE – With weather forecasts calling for the potential of two feet of snowfall Sunday through Monday afternoon in this region, it’s a strong possibility that many kids will be taking advantage of the snow accumulation to go outside and enjoy winter activities with snowboards and sleds. Many were more than likely Christmas gifts left under the tree a few weeks ago collecting dust in children’s bedroom closets. Not anymore!
Kids should always use caution when riding on snowboards and sleds during the snowy winter months. Avoid streets. Avoid others riding their own snowboards and sleds by keeping your distance and never stand on down slope pathways. Stay away from trees, bushes, structures and vehicles.
Snowboarding and sledding are motion involved activities that increases the chances of collisions and high impact trajectory occurrences that require head injury-prevention. The best way to protect your head while snowboarding and sledding is by wearing safety helmets properly secured in case of unintentional impacts.
Enjoy outdoor snow activities but play it safe and prevent head injuries. Have fun playing in the snow kids!
