PFD ceremony

The Pascoag Fire District will hold a swearing in ceremony for Chief Michael Dexter on Monday, Feb. 16, which will also mark the promotions of Capt. Lori Poirier, Capt. Thomas Lindgren, Lt. Hayley Morin and Lt. Dennis Foster. The public is invited to attend the ceremony starting at 7 p.m. at the station at 141 Howard Ave. Light refreshments will be provided.

Eccleston lecture

The Burrillville 250 Commission will host a special event in their winter lecture series on Tuesday, Feb. 17 with information on the late Burrillville educator and coach Tom Eccleston presented by his son Bill Eccleston. The event will take place at Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Medicare assistance

Burrillville Senior Services will sponsor a session with office hours for those with questions about Medicare this week. Officials will be on hand to help those who need help signing up or switching plans, and answer questions about new regulation changes on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.in the conference room of Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane.

Galentine’s Make & Take

New Rhode Nutrition at 1452 Bronco Highway will host a Galentine’s Make & Take Night on Wednesday, Feb. 18 starting at 6 p.m. Grab your bestie & join us for a fun night of sippin’ tea & making your own batch of protein balls. Tickets cost $28.52 and are available here.

Beavers

Pascoag Public Library at 57 Church St. will host a program for kids and families on beavers on Thursday, Feb. 19 starting at 11 a.m. led by Roberta Lacey of the Burrillville Grassroots Coalition. Attendees will get Critter Kits, which originated from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, packed with hands-on materials, books, coloring and puzzle hand-outs.

Hot cocoa with Roger Williams

Mapleville Farm at 544 Victory Highway will host “Hot Cocoa with Roger Williams” on Sunday, Feb. 22 starting at 2 p.m. The founder of Rhode Island portrayed by National Park Ranger John McNiff will share the groundbreaking accomplishments that set Rhode Island apart from the rest of the English trans-Atlantic world.
