BURRILLVILLE – The school vacation week is over and it’s back to school for students this week. The Bus Stop Kids want to remind children about the importance of crossing streets safely on their way to the bus stop and walking home after the bus drops them off after school ends for the day.
Kids should never run across streets and should always make sure that there are no vehicles approaching from any direction. Kids should stop and look both ways before crossing any streets. If a vehicle is approaching, children should wait for that car or truck to drive by them before attempting to cross the street to the opposite side. If the streets that kids are crossing have a crosswalk then make sure that the children are aware that they need to use it and not up the street where there isn’t one. Never, ever, cross streets from behind parked vehicles, obstructed fences and building areas or bends in the street or road with a driver’s blind spot. It’s not safe for kids at any age and they should always want to cross streets safely.
Have a safe return to the school this week and enjoy the rest of the school year.
