Trash pickup
Trash and recycling pickup resumes on its regular schedule on Monday, March 2 following a week with no collection due to the winter storm. The Department of Public Works is offering five free yellow bags per household for collection beyond what fits inside the bin. Bags can be picked up at the town garage at 281 Quaker Highway, and should be placed on the ground next to your cart.
The bulky item pick-ups originally scheduled for Monday, Feb. 23 will be picked up on Monday, March 2.
Chair Zumba
North Smithfield Senior Services will offer a Chair Zumba class starting this week, to be held on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. beginning March 3 at Scouter’s Hall at 13 Main St. The weekly low-impact dance workout is free to local seniors on a drop-in basis.
Youth art
The North Smithfield Art Committee in partnership with the North Smithfield Public Art Department will present a youth art exhibition at Town Hall at 83 Green St. featuring works by elementary, middle and high school students beginning on Monday, March 2 through Friday, March 27. An open house for the exhibit will be held will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 4 to 6 p.m.
