NORTH SMITHFIELD – A North Smithfield woman was arrested by Rhode Island State Police last week and is now facing several felony charges for alleged public assistance fraud.
Pamela Artruc, 47, a Providence Pike resident was reportedly picked up by troopers from the Scituate Barracks at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Artruc was charged with fraudulently obtaining public assistance of more than $500, fraudulent use of food stamps totaling more than $500, and making a false statements to obtain a replacement public assistance check of more than $500, all felonies.
Artruc was also charged with the misdemeanor of giving a false document to a public official.
State police said in an statement that the arrest was the result of a barracks investigation, which lists an offense date in November of 2025.
Artruc was processed at state police headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with $5,000 personal recognizance. She is due back in Third District Court on Monday, March 30.
