
Exercise bingo
North Smithfield Senior Services will host Exercise Bingo on Tuesday, March 17 starting at 1 p.m. at Scouter’s Hall at 13 Main St. There will be no cash prizes, but the fun will be followed by coffee and zeppolas.

Old growth forests
Nathan Cornell, president of the RI Old Growth Tree Society will offer a presentation on Rhode Island’s old growth forests on Friday, March 20 starting at 7 p.m. at Heritage Hall at 101 Green St. Learn about pockets of old growth mature, native forests in the state and their special characteristics and benefits.
The event is open to the public and is hosted by the North Smithfield Land Trust and the North Smithfield Heritage Association.

Maple milk
Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery at 200 Woonsocket Hill Road has announced that maple milk is back for a limited time. The special product will be available through April in the store.
Driving tour
The North Smithfield Heritage Association will offer a driving tour of Wesquidomsett on Saturday, March 21 starting at 9:30 a.m. The tour will include Old Sayles Hill Road, Rustic Drive-In, West Farm, NS 60, School, NS24, the Tyler Mowry House, NS 32, Crookfall Brook, the trolley tracks, mill site & dam and the milk can. Participants will meet at Aldi’s parking lot at Dowling Village and are encouraged to wear long pants, use insect repellent, bring water and wear blaze orange during hunting season.

Egg hunt
Slatersville Congregational Church at 25 Green St. will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 21 from 1 to 2 p.m. on the church common.

Stop the Bleed
We’ve mentioned it before, but the event will take place this week: There is still time to sign up for the North Smithfield Emergency Management Agency’s hands-only CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed training, to be held on Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Scouter’s Hall. The free, three hour, semi-annual life-saving program is open to the first 50 North Smithfield residents to register, and will be taught in accordance with the American Heart Association. Certificates will be awarded upon completion of the program.
Incidents such as cardiac arrest choking and serious bleeding do take place and most by-standers want to help until professional care arrives. The program aims to change by-standers into by-doers and to help others save lives.

Friends meeting
The Smithfield Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends – Quakers – in Union Village will host a worship service by Rev. Natalia de Rezendes, at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22 at the Meetinghouse 108 Smithfield Road just over the town line in Woonsocket.
A release on the service notes that it will include music and readings that offer a peaceful and memorable means to experience God’s inner light. All are welcome to join as the group celebrates 320 years of community worship, peace, and brotherly love. Participants can find extra parking across the street inside the Union Cemetery.
